BARANGAY BARACLAYAN


Brief History

This is a remote barangay in the Naulid Valley. It is 6 kilometers from poblacion passing through Durog. A sitio of Maricolcol since 1918 which is called "Bongol San Luis." It became a barrio in 1936.

Travellers hiking cross-country from Miag-ao to Igbaras or vice versa, cannot escape passing through this place. It was, as still is, the only way to and from Igbaras. Baraclayan got its name from the dialect "baclay" which means to scale.

The past heads include Valeriano Nuangay, Mederico Nagalmos, Marcos Natar, Benito Natar, Alejandro Moleņo, Florencio Noran, Dionesio Murallon, Salvador Natinga, Fernando Yating, Bienvenido Noserale, Pedro Nomos and Romulo Murallon. At present, John Failaman, headed the barangay.

Barangay Baraclayan celebrates its fiesta in April to honor Senior San Roque.


Vision/Mission

Barangay Baraclayan is one of the basic political unit of the Municipality of Miag-ao, Province of Iloilo with good governance. Its mission is to have bigger barangay hall to keep all documents and facilities of the barangay. With a communal garden that could help the community and could financially assist the barangay. A passable road for easy transportation. Increase in agriculture production. With the people living in respect, understanding, cooperation and support with one another.

Objectives

  1. Reconstruction of the barangay hall.
  2. Have a communal garden.
  3. Provide facilities for agriculture.

Strategies

  1. To allocate a budget from 20% IRA fund for all proposed projects of the barangay..
