BARANGAY IGPURO-BARIRI


Brief History

The place is located at the upper Ticdalan Valley 3 kilometers from Banbanan and 10 kilometers from poblacion.

In the past, houses there were scattered by two's or more, known in the dialect as "mamuropuro" from which the barangay derived its present name. It is called Igpuro-Bariri being near Barangay Bariri.

Igpuro-Bariri was headed for a long time by Teniente Sarbino Molo before, during and after World War II. He was followed by Narciso Naquita (1948-1951), Pedro Nonaillada Sr. (1951-1955), Pablo Ngalongalo (1955-1959), Carlos Frael (1959-1965), Angelico Nice (1965-1979), Rogelio Molo Sr. (1979-19889), Vicente Frael (1989-1994), Domingo Muegue (1994-1997) and Narcisa Naquita (1997-2002). This place is presently headed by Vicente Frael.

Maintenance of peace and order, livelihood program and work hard and construction of Daycare Center.

Objectives

  1. Improvement of barangay roads.
  2. Development of watershed area where supply of potable water.
  3. Provision of livelihood program and encourage people to work hard.

Strategies

  1. Coordination with municipal and provincial government regarding improvement/maintenance of barangay roads..
  2. Identify watershed areas.
  3. Conduct tree planting activities in watershed areas.
  4. Establish strong coordination with DENR and other agencies in the protected watershed.
  5. Strict implementation of measure to protect watershed area.
  6. Farmers cooperative and association for livelihood programs.
