BARANGAY BUENAVISTA SUR


Brief History

Buenavista Sur is the last barangay in San Rafael Valley. It is sometimes called Buenavista-Igcatambor being near to the latter. It some 5 kilometers from the national road and 13 kilometers from the poblacion.

Unlike Buenavista Norte, it derived its name from buenavista, an ornamental plants which grow abundantly in the place

Known heads of Buenavista Sur were Gregorio Nilmao, Dionisio Faronilmo, Arturo Mapa, Fausto Nilmao, Tomas Nilmao, Wenceslao Nilmao, Balbino Ngirngir (1948-1951), Andres Faronilmo (1952-1967), Federico Nilma (1968-1979), Jose Fariolan Sr. (1980-1994), Evaristo Fariolan (1994-1997) and Rosario Miac (1997-2002). The present Punong Barangay is Socorro Nilmao.

Buenavista Sur celebrates its barangay thanksgiving day every last Saturday of February since 1994 up to the present. We also celebrate our Patronal Fiesta every second day of February to honor Nuestra Seņora de la Candelaria, their patron saint.
