BARANGAY BUGTONG NAULID

Brief History

This place is located at a lone hill in the area, thus, it is named Bugtong. It is 4 kilometers from the national road and 8 from the poblacion passing through Maninila-Caitib road. And because it is located in the Naulid Valley, it was named Bugtong Naulid.

Women weavers of the place are adapted to intricate designs of local blankets, pillow cases and other woven products.

Among its past heads were Juan Nomananap, Faustino Montaņo, Rosendo Nomananap, Casimiro Falalimpa and Santiago Nomananap who headed the place for more than 20 years. He served before and after World war II.

Those who followed him were Esteban Nuevaexcija (1955-1956), Elpidio Muralla (1957), Eugenio Nepucpan (1958-1959), Vicente Montaņo (1960-1961), Anselmo Falalimpa (1962-1963), Albino Frades (1968-1971), Romeo Natinga (1964-1967) and (1972-1989), Ramon Nepucpan (1989-1994(, Gerardo Falalimpa (1994-1997), Reyno Crespo (1997-2002) and the incumbent Punong Barangay Ramon Nepucpan.

Reverend Father Salvador Falalimpa, parish priest of Lapuz, Lapaz, Iloilo City came from this place.

Objectives

  1. Improvement of agricultural products.
  2. Improvement of health services in the barangay.
  3. To increase IRA fund of the barangay for the improvement of barangay projects
  4. Construction of permanent streetlights.
