BARANGAY DUROG


Brief History

Old folks of this place said that in the early past, Durog was flooded. When the flood subsided, the native saw a very large snake lying horizontally (naga durog) on the river bed, thus the place was called Durog.

Heads of Durog that time were Mariano Mujal, Portates Fabra, Apolinario Mujal, Sofronio Moleņo, Manuel Flame, vicente Mueda, Jose Faina, Crispin Nograles, Salvador Molavin, Florentino Flame (OIC), Alfredo Narborito (OIC), Ricardo Falsario, Custodio Piedad and now the present Punong Barangay Ramy Yating.

Barangay Durog has a distance of 4 kilometers away from the Poblacion. The houses are scattered and only few are found in the barangay proper. Tumagboc river which lies beneath the barangay supplies water for agricultural products. There are spring water located in Tarog, Biga-a and Sarurong which supply potable drinking water.

Objectives

  1. Improvement of barangay and provincial road.
  2. Improvement of barangay and provincial bridge.
  3. Provision of livelihood program in response to the problem of unemployment and under employed.
  4. Improvement of health services in the barangay.
  5. Improvement of irrigation system.

Strategies/Programs/Activities

  1. Strengthen linkages and coordination with Provincial government regarding the maintenance of provincial road.
  2. Construct a concrete bridge.
  3. Financial assistance from the Provincial Government regarding the maintenance and improvement of the barangay bridge.
  4. Form/strengthen farmers cooperative and association for livelihood program.
  5. Monitor progress and implement programs of the cooperative.
  6. Optimize presence of health personnel in the barangay.
  7. Provide enough medicines.
  8. Construct a concrete irrigation system.
  9. Finance and provide materials to prevent from flood destruction.
  10. Inform the DENR of quarry sand and gravel from the river.
