BARANGAY SIBUCAO


Brief History

To reach this place one has to cross  the Tumagboc River from Barangay Cubay Tacas or Barangay Cubay Ubos and go up by foot trail passing through Barangay Pungtod Monteclaro. It is about 10 kilometers from the poblacion.

Sibucao was established during the time of Barangay Captain Francisco Flores Paguntalan and Teniente Mayor Dionisio Noviza in 1851. It is name after sibucao tree which was plenty in earlier times. Sibucao is a dye. During the Spanish era, Miag-ao exported larger quantities of sibucao known as sampan wood. Galleon came to Iloilo to load sibucao for export to other countries.

Known early heads were Nicolas Polido, Estaquio Quilantang and Anselmo Firmeza. Before and during the war it was headed by Eusebio Falle assisted by Luis Falle, sub-teniente. After the war, the heads were Juan Falle, Jeorge Falle, Baldomero Falguisana, Luis Falle (192-1955), Tomas Falle (1956-1959), Andres Napud (1960-1994), Rene Falguisana (1994-2002). The present barangay captain is Joel Falleira.

Sibucao celebrate its barangay fiesta in every third Saturday of November to honor the patron Our Lady of Miraculous Medal.

Reverend Father Antonio Nopasa hails in this place.

Now, we can reach this place by a short time from poblacion by a jeep passing through Camp Monteclaro or Barangay Banbanan route.

Monteclaro Elementary School is located at this place near the barangay.

More improvement on livelihood projects. More improvement on barangay road. Additional source of water supply in the barangay. More improvement on power supply and communication facilities.

Objectives

  1. Improvement of KABSAKA and barangay road.
  2. Development of forestry and water shed areas where supply of potable water is scarce.
  3. Illumination of unserved household by ILECO I by means of alternative power supply.
  4. Improvement of communication facilities.

Strategies

  1. Strengthen linkages and coordination with provincial government regarding improvement/maintenance of provincial and barangay roads.
  2. Pull barangay resources for gravelling for road improvement.
  3. Strengthen engineering capability on roads improvement and maintenance.
  4. Identify watershed areas.
  5. Conduct strong coordination with DENR and other agencies in the protection of watershed and forestry areas.
  6. Strict implementation of measures to protect watershed and forestry areas.
  7. Conduct inventory of electricity unservice barangay household.
  8. Organize electric users in the barangay and conduct management training.
  9. Sort out funding for additional lines from ILECO I.
  10. To prepare budget for the purchase of the equipments.
  11. To improve past and immediate communication from barangay to municipality.
