This place is far-flung barangay in the Bacauan valley. It can be reached either through San Fernando in Oyungan Valley or Sag-on, Calagtangan and Tugura-ao in the Bacauan Valley.
When the Spaniard came to this place they found that the barrio was located on top of a hill from where they had a good view in the surrounding places. Impressed by its location they name the place buenavista for "good view."
The earliest known head of the place was Cabeza Daling. The prewar tenientes were Andres Nejana and dDionesio Mondoy. During World War II, Buenavistahad Moises Nejana as barrio teneinte. After the war he was followed by Arsenio Mocon (1945-1947), Mateo Faingason (1948-1951), Moises Monsale (1952-1955), Arsenio Mocon (1956-1981), Amador Monsale (1982-1988).
The present Punong Barangay is Jaime Pagalan since 1988.
Buenavista Norte celebrates its feast day in April to honor Saint Rita de Casia.
