According to the ancestors of the place, long time ago during the Spanish regime, Spaniards are wandering from place to place. When Spaniard soldiers came, they same a man with his cow having different colors. This make the Spaniards wonder why the cow has a unique color. So the soldiers asked the owner of the cow if what is the name of this place. Due to man's ignorance, he can't fully understand the question of the soldier so the man replied "Cambang", thinking that the soldier was asking him about the color of his cow. From then on, when Spaniards came back to the place, the word "cambang" was used to locate the place. People as well repeatedly saying and calling the barrio "cambang" but later on as the time go by, "cambang" as what they call became "cagbang". This is the history of Barangay Cagbang.
