Barangay Calampitao is the first barangay upon entering the Municipality of Miag-ao from Iloilo City. The bridge of the barangay is the boundary between Barangay Calampitao , Miag-ao, and Barangay Calampitao, Guimbal.
Barangay Calampitao is approximately 5 kilometers from the poblacion. It can be reached through public utility jeepneys and tricycles in 8 minutes. The people of this barangay are engaged in farming and fishing. these two activities are the main source of livelihood.
However, aside from the mentioned activities as the source of income, they still have extra income from such sari-sari stores and animal raising that is poultry and swine. There are families who whom and operate public utility jeepneys.
Several facilities can be found in this barangay. Among these are the newly constructed multi-purpose hall, which serves as the barangay session hall by the Sangguniang Barangay, multi-purpose pavement that serves as the basketball court and a place for cultural shows. A waiting shed especially to students in going to school. The barangay have spring for water supply, which is collected from a water electric tank. Paying Php30.00 pesos each a month is used in maintenance and repair of the water tank and GI pipe.
Hoping that whatever Calampitao has as of today will be more progressive in the coming years. Hoping also that all of the vision of the leaders for the barangay may be accomplished. Because of the constructed two-storey barangay hall and the lined-up bougainvilleas along the national highway, you can say...that is Barangay Calampitao.
